Are you an AAT Qualified Accounts Professional looking for an opportunity in an expanding business?

A family owned business within the Construction industry and based on the outskirts of Bury St Edmunds are on the hunt for an Accounts Assistant to join the team on a full-time, permanent basis!

Responsible for supporting the finance team by performing a variety of administrative and clerical tasks. This role involves assisting with the processing of financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and providing general support to the accounts department.

Reporting directly to the Financial Director, duties will include:

• Assist with the processing of invoices, payments, and receipts.
• Enter financial data into accounting systems with accuracy and efficiency.
• Support the management of accounts payable and receivable, including tracking due dates, processing payments, and following up on outstanding invoices.
• Assist in the reconciliation of bank statements and accounts to ensure accuracy.
• Help maintain and update the general ledger by posting transactions.
• Assist in the preparation of financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
• Provide support in processing payroll by preparing employee timesheets and
• Maintain organized files of financial documents, such as invoices, receipts, and bank statements.
• Help prepare VAT returns and ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations.
• Liaise with suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders to resolve queries and issues related to payments and invoices.
• Provide general administrative support to the finance department, such as preparing documents, managing correspondence, and scheduling meetings.
• Ensure all financial activities comply with company policies and procedures, as well as relevant financial regulations.

The ideal candidate will be AAT qualified and have experience in a similar role. Attention to detail and proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks & Sage as well as a good understanding of accounting principles would all be highly desirable.
Experience within the construction industry or a related field is a plus.
